Faithless Child

As the darkness took its toll
Upon my heart, upon my soul,
I trembled in fear,
For nothing was clear.
There was something to learn,
But nowhere to turn.
No help in sight
To ease my poor plight.

Yet, unknown to me, You sadly smiled,
Shaking Your head at this faithless child.
Not only are You now keeping me strong,
But You had been sustaining me all along.
The darkness had swallowed my sight of You,
But now I know You’re always the One who stays true.
