A step onto the autumn floor
Releases the crackle of leaves below
As they're trampled underfoot
They reek of rust and resemble soot
When the air hits your lungs
You know it's the end of summer fun
And when the first flake finally falls
They silence the sound of the crow's caws
Look all around and you'll see
The trees asleep, naked; dutifully
As they follow nature's plan
They wait for spring to begin again
Now here it is, one last rhyme
Until winter, we live in autumn's time.
