Most of all, I want.
There are things I need,
Or could have,
If only you would give them to me.
But most of all, I want.
And when I say that I'm not talking about
The way I want that candy bar
In the aisle of the grocery store
When it costs fifty cents and all I have
Is a quarter, two dimes and a penny.
When all I want, is to turn that penny
Into a nickel.
I want,
So many things,
Like Obama to be the next president,
To stop fighting with my mother,
Be able to climb mountains in Dana again
and stare across the expanse
Or reverse time.
But most of all
I want my twilights to turn into sunrises
Those impossible times when the clock
reads 5 a.m.
And I'm caught in the limbo
Of tangled bedsheets, beside you.
All I want,
Is not to be able to cure cancer or
Finally finish that goddamn English essay
I've been trying to write for weeks, no
All I want
Is to kiss you awake
And lay my head down to hear your heartbeat
Because most of all
I want.
There are things I need,
Or could have,
If only you would give them to me.
But most of all, I want.
And when I say that I'm not talking about
The way I want that candy bar
