Come On Down

I am overcome

By a sensation of happiness

As the events of my past crawl through my brain

I close my eyes

I can still smell the fresh pines in the dead of winter

The fish-filled water

Creeping through the foliage

The current of the creek

The rushing wooshhhh of the water

The chipper chirp of songbirds

Peace and tranquility

The brown-haired, nature nerd

Who followed me everywhere

Actually,

He let me tag along

"Escape the bitterness and hatred

Of the world

That is trying to pull you under

Drown you"

Cruel

Merciless

Demeaning

"Come down with me to the creek

Let your worries wash away

The water is glistening

The deer are out and about

Follow me down to the creek

The sun is shining

The leaves are falling

The creek is calling

Come on Down"
