Books

Books are a place my troubles can’t go
Away from this world of sorrow and woe
And hidden in their pages a new world appears
With different sorrows and different fears

There the hero almost always wins
The sinful absolved of their weighty sins
True love is found and enemies vanquished
Happiness found and sorrow banished.

And when finally I come to the end
My troubles seem smaller, easy to mend
I smile and sigh and stretch out the kinks
And take some time to sit and think

Books are a place my troubles can’t go
Where my mind can wander to and fro
Where imagination and heart take flight
And wing their way home at the end of the night
