Facade of Feelings

How long until someone sees the real me?
When can I take off my smile and cry true tears?
Is anyone looking close enough to hear the way my words seem fake?
Does anyone notice what my words really mean?

Will I be able to bear this pain any longer?
Should I have to?
Would I have had to?
Could I not have had to?

Two, I'm split into two
The me I see and the me for you
When I leave the room nothing seems true
Was it just me or was it you?

I question the facts
Is that normal?

Everyone's forced to act
Or is that just how I react?

My smiles aren't real
My laughs are the same deal

I can still feel happy
But it isn't the same as joy
They can feel sad
But it's different from this pain I feel

I'm drowning in a sorrow that keeps pushing me deeper
It keeps pushing me into the unknown that is emptiness

Soon I won't have to act
Because all that's gonna be left of me are pieces
Soon I won't have to act
Because I won't care enough to hide the brokenness underneath

The author's comments:

This is written for people who put on a facade and feel alone. This is written for people to read and comprehend that not everybody is the person they seem to be. Not everybody is showing you their true, vibrant colors. This is written from my own current perspective. When somebody shows you a side of them you didn't expect, accept them. When someone shows their true colors, believe them. Be the person someone wants to show their true colors to. Be the person someone wants to share their agony with.
