2022 Traditions Contest: Christmas Tree
Green and bare
Standing in a corner
Our tree awaits
The magic
A string of lights
Sparkling, glowing,
As if we have caught the stars
And placed them,
Carefully,
In the branches
Christmas music
And the smell of cinnamon
Fill the house
Fill my heart
As, one by one,
Ornaments fill
The empty spaces
A deep breath
I step back
One arm around
My sister’s shoulders
My parents smile
Our tree is,
Once again,
Beautiful
We did this.
Together.
We filled this room
With glowing warmth
And simple magic

One of my favorite family traditions is decorating our Christmas tree. I love seeing our old ornaments, and I love how everything smells like cinnamon.
