Hopes
I admit it.
I got my hopes up.
No.
I didn't just get them up
I let them float
I let them fly
I let them soar
And then I watched them fall.
No.
I didn't just watch them fall
I watched them crash
I watched them die
I watched them burn.
Like a bird
Flying above the world
Shot down
With a bullet
That hurt more
Than the falling.
My wings
Have been ripped apart
Torn away
Thrown aside
As though they didn't mean
The world to me.
But the problem is
They did.
I write poems often, but this one really speaks to me. This piece doesn't relate to just one situation, but many situations that kids all around the world face.
