I reach out a hand into the darkness and grasp for something.
Anything.
Something to hold onto, something to hold me steady.
Something that will stop this madness.
I won't believe it.
I don't want to believe it.
But it's there.
You're gone.
Gone like the morning sun as the evening sky settles in.
Gone like the bluebird as the winter's snow falls to the ground.
Gone like the embers of loving flame in my heart.
Instead, you leave a cold loneliness.
A loneliness colder than anything I've ever felt before.
I fall silent as I lift my hands.
Reaching.
Grasping.
But nothing.
My voice suddenly finds a way to my throat.
And I cry out in anguish and sorrow.
My heart is so hollow now, so empty.
So
Cold.
You leave a dull ache in my heart.
Anything.
Something to hold onto, something to hold me steady.
Something that will stop this madness.
I won't believe it.
I don't want to believe it.
But it's there.
You're gone.
