It's so weird
I'm looking at a plain white wall
And all I see is you
I mean,
There's so much going on
Around me
The cat's purring
I hear the keys clicking as I type
The clock ticks the seconds of my life away
1:10 a.m., 1:11 a.m., 1:12 a.m.
And still all I see,
All I can think about
All that floods my hearing,
Just beyond consciousness
Is you
How can you do this to me,
When it's been so long
You've been gone for forever
I've met others
I've fallen
I've gotten back to my feet
Dusted my jeans off
Looked toward the sun
But always you are there
You're like a weed
That refuses to go away
Only you're better,
Sweeter,
Easier to miss
I don't understand
How it could be this long
And you still have my heart
I look out the window
And see blackness,
Stars,
The half moon,
But, also, the lights from the house
Reflect off of it
And your smile dances in the translucent brightness
Forever,
Everlasting,
Eternal,
Burned into my memory
With the simple greeting of
“Hello.”
I really don't get it
I doubt I ever will
Wherever I walk,
Whether I've been there before
With you
Or not,
You are there,
Burned into my very core
You appear everywhere,
Because wherever I go,
I carry you with me,
In my heart
It's so weird
I'm looking at a plain white wall
And all I see is you
As the cat purrs
And the clock ticks the seconds of my life away
1:19 a.m., 1:20 a.m., 1:21 a.m.
I'm looking at a plain white wall
And all I see is you
