Goodbye

I don't know how we got here,
or why;
All I know is that I could
never say goodbye to you
But see, I'm certain this is
exactly what I must do
You are now flying away from
the nest and as horrifying as
it is,
I understand it's for the best;
Because you will soon be
gone love,
as aesthetic and graceful as a
dove;
I can't even fathom how long
this pain will last, but in order for it to pass on, I need to
let go of our past.
You're finally able to spread
your wings and soar through
the sky;
I am aware now that I must
finally say my goodbyes
