&quot;Come fairies take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame.&quot;.... W.B. Yeats.<br /> &quot;Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.&quot; - Douglas Adams

I remember when it was cool
To write with Sharpie on your shoe.
To let the ink stain your pants
With a heart of frivolous innocence.
Stupid things that we liked to think
Meant we were forever linked.
Hearts were popular—a simple mark—
Un-recordable up on the charts.
Back-packs laced with safety pins
Pinning closed what was within.
I remember when it was cool
To write with Sharpie on your shoe.
We used to laugh and joke around
As if we weren’t residents of the lost and found.
To draw a mark that looked so neat
You wanted to get it permanently inked.
When pants with holes were all the rage—
I remember that silly phase.
Do you reminisce about what was the point of all this?
Self expression I liked to think—
But weren’t we all wrapped up in it?
I still remember when it was cool
To write with Sharpie on your shoe.
Converse plain, white toe,
Such an empty place—like a hole.
I still wear the canvas shoes
Sometimes I even think of you.
All of us were so closely linked by the
Indelible marker on our feet.
I remember when it was cool
To write with Sharpie on you shoe.
Lyrics of our favorite songs
Scribbled on the sides and tongues.
Our preferences passed with growing distance—why did we ever think it wasn’t stupid?
But it was a time capsule we carried around,
Something that could never be buried in the ground.
They tread where we tread,
They never stumbled tripped or fell.
We were the ones destined to be
The ones who stumbled and fell to a knee.
We were the ones that drew those marks
Even though they were just stupid hearts.
I’ll never forget when it was cool
To write with Sharpie on your shoe.

I was taking notes in History and as is typical for me, the words happen to stumble into my head. I remember middle school and some of the stuff that we did and what we thought during that time...and how it's different now.

Time is an important thing but it is also the cause of a lot of pain; Some wish for it to go faster while others wish for it to go faster. Then there are those that wish it could just end. So enjoy the time in life you are given and don&#039;t worry so much.

wow totally love this! it reminds me of me and my friends "back in the day" lol

Thanks, and you caught on to what I was feeling when a wrote this...nostalgia. Haha, besides, isn't it great when you just have an ephiny right in the middle of everything and you have to just drop everything and write it down?
