There go the houses
There go the trees
The skyline is fading below
Farewell to the meadows
the snowpiles and sidewalks
and everything else that I know
I fear for the moment
I fear for my heart
Can it stand all these layers
that are crumbling apart?
I bury my head in my hands
and I cry
but there, through my fingers:
an expanding sky
I seize up my courage
and finally say
"The world is not falling;
I'm flying away."
