You know that feeling don’t you?
When they stare
You can feel the icy daggers barring holes into
Your soul
You hear them whispering don’t you?
And giggling
You can feel it when they point and scoff at who
You are
You try not to notice don’t you?
But you can’t
You can pretend like it doesn’t bother you, but the truth is written on
Your face
You just don’t have the confidence do you?
But you can’t put on that mask each day
You can’t keep blinking away your tears
And keeping your emotions locked in chains.
You’re just trying to be yourself aren’t you?
But you really have to understand
You’re never meant to be yourself
Unless being you makes you someone else.
