Will I ever measure up?
They always expect so much.
When will they see,
That I just want to be me?
Sometimes they grow impatient,
But I can't be their better.
When will they see,
That I just want to be me?
Whenever I mess up,
They know I can never be good enough.
When will they see,
That I just want to be me?
When they look,
They will never see,
Me.
But, who am I?
I have forgotten.
Because the person they've made me to be,
Has clouded over, covered up, the real me.
But, who's the real me?
Because the me,
They've made me to be,
Isn't me...
But, them.
They always expect so much.
When will they see,
That I just want to be me?
Sometimes they grow impatient,
But I can't be their better.
When will they see,
