The Bite

I have felt the bite of harsh insults,
of depression,
of the cold hands of jealousy,
of betrayal,
and of self-loathing,

I have felt the bite of the maniacal mouth of greed.
of hate,
of terror,
of disappointment,
and of love gone very wrong.

I have felt the scorching bite of desperation,
of the angry bite of hunger,
of the loss of a loved one.
of abandonment.
and of pity.
But most importantly,
I have felt the bite of life itself.

But then again...
haven't we all?
