Plucking one of his fingers
I pop it into my mouth
Blueberry pancakes
I savor the taste
He takes a strand of my licorice hair
And slides it into his mouth
Spitting it out,
He scratches at the rancid
Taste on his tongue
Wailing, I fling myself into
The desert sea
And drown myself
In blistering sorrow
Though my eyes are closed
I gaze at the field of sunflowers
Their breathtaking beauty
Stunning me
I touch a petal
And it draws away
From me wilting,
An unseen fire killing it
My mouth stretches back
In a scream
Enveloping me
Overtaken by silence
My candle
Has been snuffed
I pop it into my mouth
Blueberry pancakes
I savor the taste
He takes a strand of my licorice hair
And slides it into his mouth
Spitting it out,
He scratches at the rancid
Taste on his tongue
Wailing, I fling myself into
The desert sea
And drown myself
In blistering sorrow
Though my eyes are closed
I gaze at the field of sunflowers
Their breathtaking beauty
Stunning me
I touch a petal
And it draws away
From me wilting,
An unseen fire killing it
My mouth stretches back
In a scream
Enveloping me
Overtaken by silence
My candle
Has been snuffed
