in your strong yet gentle arms I sit
we both know that around us thunder

splits open the heavens,
the wind rages on like some savage

yet we are totally oblivious to that
as my head sits in your broad chest
I hear nothing,
but the sound of your breathing,
and the rhythmic



beating of my heart
they are completely different sounds but together the two


join
to create a single harmonious melody, it is odd to think
that after all we've been through
only one thing separates us now...

the complex melody that once was ours now stutters,

it stops
but now when I need you the most
my heart begins to beat again
the sound is small but insistent
and will somehow go on day after day for you only
