I wish I could
open you like a book,
read your life
chapter-by-chapter,
scroll through an
index of your thoughts,
study the glossary
of your slang;
practice the pronunciation
of your expressions,
analyze the etymology
of your smile.
I would examine you
cover-to-cover,
and armed with
my careful study
have not a word
more of vocabulary
to explain the conundrum of my heart.
love, n., v., the sum of all the words in the dictionary at once;
the act of having this feeling. [Origin: unknown, possibly the beginning of time.]
