Bright green eyes bore into my head
and imprint into my memory,
she was a girl,
just barely twelve,
lying on the streets,
all alone,
with no coat,
it’s winter now,
her flesh is cold,
her heart is frozen,
her eyelashes catch the snow
and turn to tears
that freeze everlasting
on her cheeks,
her hair is wet, wild and black,
straggly and covering her face,
my heart cries out just
as i pass by,
what awful and
cruel person I must be,
but did you stop?
woe is me,
so i ran back
and threw her a coin.
and imprint into my memory,
she was a girl,
just barely twelve,
lying on the streets,
all alone,
with no coat,
it’s winter now,
her flesh is cold,
her heart is frozen,
her eyelashes catch the snow
and turn to tears
that freeze everlasting
on her cheeks,
her hair is wet, wild and black,
straggly and covering her face,
my heart cries out just
as i pass by,
what awful and
cruel person I must be,
but did you stop?
woe is me,
so i ran back
and threw her a coin.
