Wishing, Pennies, and Expectations

Some people fling rusting pennies and coins in fountains
Some see shooting stars and rapidly try to conjure up a wish
Dying to have just one more aspect of their lives:
Perfect.
Wonderful.
Flawless.

People always want things so badly.
They resort to wishing upon eyelashes that have fallen loose from their faces
1. Place them on the tip of your finger
2. Blow them away
3. Close your eyes- tight
4. Construct a wish
5. Hope with all your heart that it comes true

If you’re a true wisher you may bite a potato chip with a bubble in it.
And proceed to chew exactly ten times
Only when you swallow can you make your request

You can never tell anybody the wish you made
Or it won’t come true!
Every wisher knows that.

If we keep going like we are human beings will soon
Lack eyelashes
If we keep going like we are human beings will soon
Be blind from the faultless stars they feast their eyes upon
If we keep going like we are human beings will soon
Want more and more
And more.
Humans will expect
More
More
More
If we keep going like we are human beings will soon
Be plump from potato chips
If we keep going like we are human beings will soon
Be paranoid we cant tell people things- for our wish may not come true
If we keep going like we are human beings will soon
Be wishers
If we keep going like we are human beings
Will not just let things happen
How they were intended to happen
Before the wishers interrupted
