A night after a heavy August rain,
the warmth shooting through chest
when you arrive and the undeniable
hummingbird beats of the heart.
Put that day in a poem lest forgotten;
the rain-perfumed roads.
you in a flight of laughter;
a smile too profound for tears.
The shape of your profile traced
by the moonlight. But,
please, don't believe me today
if I told you I would like to
liquefy into those starlight eyes
the warmth shooting through chest
when you arrive and the undeniable
hummingbird beats of the heart.
Put that day in a poem lest forgotten;
the rain-perfumed roads.
you in a flight of laughter;
a smile too profound for tears.
The shape of your profile traced
by the moonlight. But,
please, don't believe me today
if I told you I would like to
liquefy into those starlight eyes
