The Climber

Rhyming
Is a little like climbing
One misstep and you
Fall into a page of ecru
(or be you a climber,
You may wish you were a flyer)
Higher, higher
With a burning desire
You rhyme and conspire
To fill the page with fire
It burns greatly
But you remain stately
As you face your foes,
Released of all woes

More read your page—
The fire fills them with rage
And your rhyming argument
Works well, a little hint
Of what is to come
The people believe you, every last one

Then in the twisted guise
Of your rhyming lies
One misstep
Sends you grabbing for what you should have kept
And as you plummet to the ground
To a place you will never be found
You’re reminded that rhyming
Is a little like climbing
