Dear Orthodontist,
What have you done to me?
I look like a dinosaur.
My jaw is no longer my own property,
it is yours.
I feel like a shark
with two layers of teeth,
which move every day
at a rate which I cannot control.
My tongue
has become a gymnast,
bending forward and back,
weaving in and out
to remove that stubborn scrap
of apple peel wrapped around my back molar.
And I can't make a fishy face anymore.
What have you done to me?
I look like a dinosaur.
My jaw is no longer my own property,
it is yours.
I feel like a shark
with two layers of teeth,
which move every day
at a rate which I cannot control.
My tongue
has become a gymnast,
bending forward and back,
weaving in and out
to remove that stubborn scrap
of apple peel wrapped around my back molar.
And I can't make a fishy face anymore.
