I wandered as a human being
To see again what the world was like
I discovered again the wonders of seeing
And saw on a reed an alien sight.
I discovered again the wonders of hearing
as it hung on thrumming wings
I discovered again the wonders of feeling
As it landed six feather-light feet on me.
It skimmed in circles
An inch from the water
And vanquished its foes
Without mindless slaughter,
As I saw the kingly flier
Flying higher and higher
I was reminded again
That not all dragons breathe fire.
To see again what the world was like
I discovered again the wonders of seeing
And saw on a reed an alien sight.
I discovered again the wonders of hearing
as it hung on thrumming wings
I discovered again the wonders of feeling
As it landed six feather-light feet on me.
It skimmed in circles
An inch from the water
And vanquished its foes
Without mindless slaughter,
As I saw the kingly flier
Flying higher and higher
I was reminded again
That not all dragons breathe fire.
