The green van approaches
Driving stealthily up our lane
The black dog runs behind
Like a greyhound in the track
He stops and waits a moment
His head down; searching
And at last finding
The envelope addressed
To this old house of reckless love anew
Leaving once more, a fresh sense of
Expectation.
