The leather’s worn out
To a dim, faded grey
They hang in a closet
The laces are frayed
The toes have a hole
With threads gone stray
The ribbons are limp
The shoes are to stay
They once gleamed wonderful
In the studio lights
And dancing on stage
Night after night
They twirled and they waltzed
To a melodious song
With shimmering costumes
And toes pointed long
But the shoes are abandoned
To never be found
On a stage, under lights
With the orchestra’s sound
To a dim, faded grey
They hang in a closet
The laces are frayed
The toes have a hole
With threads gone stray
The ribbons are limp
The shoes are to stay
They once gleamed wonderful
In the studio lights
And dancing on stage
Night after night
They twirled and they waltzed
To a melodious song
With shimmering costumes
And toes pointed long
But the shoes are abandoned
To never be found
On a stage, under lights
With the orchestra’s sound
