Life
My toes touch the water’s edge,
My palms sink deep into the coarse sand around me,
I inhale the distinct, musty scent
That chokes out the stiff, urban air,
I watch as the sapphire blue water,
Gently kisses the hot, yellow Earth
I look out in the distance,
Where blue meets blue,
Sky and water indistinguishable,
The world, a mystery,
I am just a grain of sand,
Another blade of grass,
I watch from the sidelines,
As both Earth’s benevolence and destruction unfold before me,
The flowers bloom,
Their petals admiring the sun’s scorching, yellow rays,
They take pity on the Earth,
Then the Earth becomes one, blurry illusion,
As my feet are ripped from the unsteady ground,
Or the waves form an army,
And overtake me in hand to hand combat,
Then I return to the sandy beach, again,
Just another grain of sand
