The flickering lights of a resturaunt sign
The pattern of stars that half align
A child laughs then starts to cry
At his mother's half written lullaby
A soldier at sea mourns for his wife
She stares at the ocean to remember her life
A dove sings a song but only half does she know
For her lover lies still on the hard ground below
As I watch from my window at all of these things
I try flying away but I cannot find wings
I witness my failure and muster a laugh
Is this what it's like to live life in half?
