Freedom By Night

Like waves in the ocean
or birds in the sky,
I'm somewhere else,
I'm up so high.

I'm dancing on water
and falling through space.
I'm in another world,
not this same place.

I'm jumping atop mountains.
My emotions are pouring from fountains.
My mind is so free,
I'm not sure how this can be.

I'm up in the clouds,
and I just can't come down.
This place I must protect-
I'll stay 'till my death.

This endless land
it's all so bland,
but in my mind
it's a different kind.

By day I am me.
By night I am free
to dream and to wish
and hope as I please.

The labyrinths, I solve
the realms I protect.
Nothing can stop me,
oh no, not just yet.

But when the sun rises,
and touches the sky
I wake from my dreams
to meet my demise.

I leave behind the ocean,
the birds, my creations and space,
and I hold back my dancing,
I stay in one place.

I wait and I wait
and I think and I plan,
for soon will the moon rise,
and I'll once again rule the land.
