Uninspiring

Right now I’m sitting
Staring at an empty screen.
The clacking of the keys has silenced.
All
Is
Quiet. Still. Uninspiring.

I Get up. I pace the room three times.
What happens next? The Answer
Isn’t in the bottom of two mugs of peppermint tea
Or in any of the web pages I mindlessly flip through.
It’s not in the first three pages on my story either.
I should know. I read them twice.

The room taunts me. “Look at me!” It says.
“I’m devoid of inspiration. I’m lacking any creative spark.
There is nothing in me to help you.”
Everything stops.
The birds
Don’t chirp.
They wait in their trees and stare at the blank whiteness
In front of me. They
Wonder why nothing is there.

The wind stops blowing
The trees stop rustling
Everything
Is
Quiet. Still. Uninspiring.
I take my hands off the keyboard.
