Love poems
Don’t you see?
They come from loneliness
How a peach tastes sweeter
After a mug of black coffee
We write our love poems
To try and quench our thirst
For sticky peach juice that drips down our chin
Adventure stories
You see they come
From boredom
From hearts
That have beaten slow and steady
For too long
When our legs are stiff
From sitting still
We feel them beg to take long strides
Bumping against the worn sack
At our belt
And our toes itch to carry us away
Don’t you see?
They come from loneliness
How a peach tastes sweeter
After a mug of black coffee
We write our love poems
To try and quench our thirst
For sticky peach juice that drips down our chin
Adventure stories
You see they come
From boredom
From hearts
That have beaten slow and steady
For too long
When our legs are stiff
From sitting still
We feel them beg to take long strides
Bumping against the worn sack
At our belt
And our toes itch to carry us away
