i'm tired
as mirages scratch up roof shingles
like dandruff flakes.
sleepy sleepy feet
cross over sidewalk stars,
the mountain-sky-touch the corners
kind of sidewalk stars
and maybe, maybe
that's what stars look like in space
when their light has been unplugged,
the terse OPEN at the bar window as you enter,
the cat-eyed blur of it
as you leave.
