I want my poems to be known someday
For that last heartfelt line
That draws and peaks
I want to be known someday
Not for effort or because I tried and failed
But because I went ahead and took a leap
I want to be known someday
Like the word-lovers whom I love
Who wrote of things pure and deep
I want to be known someday
Not for any words I speak
But for those that flow from my ink
I want to be known someday
My name whispered in the sacred learning halls
Revered for mastery of written speech
I want to be known someday
O, I never said that I want to be great
Just known, only known, Someday
For that last heartfelt line
That draws and peaks
I want to be known someday
Not for effort or because I tried and failed
But because I went ahead and took a leap
I want to be known someday
Like the word-lovers whom I love
Who wrote of things pure and deep
I want to be known someday
Not for any words I speak
But for those that flow from my ink
I want to be known someday
My name whispered in the sacred learning halls
Revered for mastery of written speech
I want to be known someday
O, I never said that I want to be great
Just known, only known, Someday
