Pink Lemonade for the Silvery Sharks

I close my eyes
And it’s a million tiny,
Frantic hearts
Pulsing staccato
Nervous laughter
Fish clapping in the
Deep dark depths
Shiny blue sea
And the silvery
Sharks take a chomp
At me
And yes, me, yes
Now you know that
You are for sure
Losing your mind
À la Madame Sylvia
And the two of you
Shall be bosom buddies
Somewhere down
The line, when I leave
I won’t forget my
Umbrella because it will
Definitely rain on
My journey I’ve learned
That by now, my brother
And I open my eyes and
The hearts explode and
They begin to sob
Cause this love dealio,
It’s not enough and
Too much all at once
And the fish do
Summersaults as the
Waves melt into pink
Lemonade, bittersweet but
Mostly sweet like you
Not me, I’m nine-sixteenths
Bitter and a little sweet
Stop laughing, silvery
Shark, it’s not polite
At all you live in
My belly therefore
I can kick you out at
Any time as easily
As I’m ridding myself of
This mess it floated
Out of my belly and pried
My lips open and
Now here it lands, on
My paper and I
Meant to write about the
Fireworks but I
Guess this is going to
Have to be Good
Enough.
