helpless, afraid
the day is gray
gloomy, lonely, no sunshine rays
hopeless, homeless, sidewalk edges and dark allies

all the people look at him and think he’s okay
dirty face , clothes all frayed
raining on him,
snowing on him,

heat and cold
making fires, finding junk, getting old
staring,money dropped on the sidewalk
people taking him to get food, to talk

for the homeless
without the home
less the home
no home
