Bring a flower wreath for my hair
and a dress that sways in the breeze
then take me to a summer night
to set my heart at ease
Somewhere I can see the stars
where the air is warm not hot
somewhere no one asks me to be
something that I'm not
Maybe there's a little house
made of wood and painted white
when I'm tired I shall find a bed
with soft blankets to hold me tight
a place where I won't need to eat
where dreamless nights shan't wear me down
where if I trip and fall on a rock
no cut or blood or broken crown
So there I'll be in Paradise
put a candle in my hand
so I may walk on pretty feet
to a promised land
and a dress that sways in the breeze
then take me to a summer night
to set my heart at ease
Somewhere I can see the stars
where the air is warm not hot
somewhere no one asks me to be
something that I'm not
Maybe there's a little house
made of wood and painted white
when I'm tired I shall find a bed
with soft blankets to hold me tight
a place where I won't need to eat
where dreamless nights shan't wear me down
where if I trip and fall on a rock
no cut or blood or broken crown
So there I'll be in Paradise
put a candle in my hand
so I may walk on pretty feet
to a promised land
