Memory Lane MAG
Opening the door quietly
to the cool air
rushing into my skin,
and the full moon in the sky.
I take each step carefully
1, 2, 3 …
Trying not to shake
the ground,
or blow our cover.
I shine the bright light on
The ground to find a worm.
My brother,
the fisherman,
Was better at reeling them in,
so I let him do most of the work.
Then he gave me a chance,
eager to catch one
because I was his little sister.
Always wanting to be like him,
and make him proud, so
I gave it a shot.
Diving in,
shaking the ground.
Mud covering my
face and pink sweater,
but my hand got it.
I finally got my first
Night crawler!
Slimy and brown
I hold it up,
in the cool air with pride.
With a cheesy smile on my face,
I show my brother
but it was time to say good-bye.
So I drop it into the bucket with a plump
While it swarmed around
with all of his other friends.
