You were a young lady; well that’s what your dad called you
You were sixteen and you were young, wild & free
You were that girl at school or were you
You were a popular girl cool with everyone
From Jocks to Geeks
You wore the latest fashion from season to season
Your favorite shoes was gladiators scandals
Favorite poem was Phenomenal Woman
Had the world in your hand
Boyfriend, Friends & Family
You was a tough cookie
Was not scared to do or say nobody
Until one day you went to the doctor
You found out that you had Breast Cancer
You thought why me I go to church and try not to sin
And when I do I repent
You thought your life was over when really just beginning.
Momma told you “ Yon Just Can’t Give Up Now”
When you started your chemotherapy was hard
But we all knew you would be okay
Your liver had started failing
You needed a liver transplant
And you got one
When done with surgery I knew you was okay
Think of the urinary tract as a set of waterworks.
But who was to think you would need a new kidney to
All you could do was cry, but at the end of the day you knew it were going to be okay
After all the drama you’ve had in your life you were a survivor
You are my hero because at the end of the day you was my hero
When you came home you
You had strength and courage that everyone could see
You showed us all how to handle life'
