Dark Sides

You tell me you like
dark sides
with your
shoulders pressed back
in that false pose of
strength.
Dark sides are
interesting
add character
define.
No mention of
fear
because you alone are
fearless.
But my dark side
fills me with
fear.
I don't want to be
interesting
a character
defined.
I pull safety blankets
around myself
coddle my trembling
heart.
I want to pull
your arms around me
instead.
To tremble next to you
late at night.
Dark side hidden
I hide
from you.
