Don’t worry about me,
You said.
You know me better than that,
You said.
You promised
And pinky swore
And crossed your heart
And hoped to die
That you wouldn’t age a day.
You’d turn your head
And say no
And laugh and walk away.
What drugs?
What boys?
Do I look like that to you?
No way!
Not me,
It’s all just foolish taboo.
Wasn’t it just yesterday
That we were children, too?
But the seed was planted
And the divine red fruit grew
Insidious and enticing,
It worked its way through
I told you so, I told you so,
But you didn’t have a clue
Until one day you called me
And through the deceived tears
I knew.
Be strong, now.
You’re seventeen now.
Do you believe me now?
