In Him
I am made new
Each lie woven into my being
Endless seeds Satan planted deep
Trailing an incomplete heart
In the quest to feel worth
Falling short of anything
But candy wrappers and checklists.
Striving is washed away
I feel my fear loosen its hold
Of intimacy and losing control
Into the arms of a Father
Who calls me His treasure
And welcomes me into sweet peace
Where I don’t have to hide
I am enough.

In Him
He is made new
From a broken home
Attacked by loneliness
Plagued by harsh mistake
Stains his soul with guilt
Of the cluttered past.
The old fades,
As the Spirit moves
With transforming power
By the Lord of abundant grace
Yearning for his heart
Every piece in healing hands
Step by step toward the light
To what he was created to be

To me
He is new
I don’t see the overbearing hurt
Sprung from misleading paths
Never to escape shackles too high
The bondage of sin.
To him
I am new
He doesn’t view the skin and bones
Starving for meaning
Flaws that constantly arise
Insecurity I still fight.

In Him is redemption
And we have been renewed
Standing pure and blameless
Before our merciful King
And our faith in each other
We are redeemed.

I wanted to convey the incredible power of transformation and grace by Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, and to explore how that has impacted the dynamic of my relationship with my amazing boyfriend Allen as we work through struggles together to be found in Jesus' love and mercy.
