Along the broken streets
I see little children
Begging for food, searching for shelter

I look around
Many people mourning
Mourning because of pain and rejection

I see myself count the blessing I received
But I find no thankfulness
I desire more, I ask for more
Without realizing I have so much

Pain in the children’s face
Fear that surrounds them
But they still lift their hands
High up to someone they trust

God you are there for them
You love them the same
Your comfort brightens up their weary souls
Lord give me a heart like them
A heart that longs for you
I want to desire nothing but you
Want to lift my hands without doubt
Help me to be thankful father

I cry because of little wounds
But they cry because of deeper pain
Even then they give up everything
Everything to worship you

I want you to be my number one Lord
Like them let all the other idols fade away
I give you my life
All and my everything
Come and be the centre of me

I listen to their prayers
It sounds funny to my ears
But you listen to my prayers
Then mourn because of my ungratefulness

My prayer requests
For my own comfort and security
I want more and more
Of the things unimportant

Lord be the only one that satisfies me
Teach me to be grateful
Let my prayers be like those
Who earnestly cry for you and nothing else

Father I now fall down before you
I have failed to be thankful Lord
Take my failure God
I want fountain of thankfulness in me
You are so faithful God
I confess it father! Thank you.
Thank you for your hand that holds mine
Thank you for lifting me up when I fall
Thank you for your unconditional love
