A low buzz
the buildings at work
a soft beat
as the clock ticks away
I shouldn’t be here
yet I’m forced to stay
like cattle they herd us in
prisoners of few mistakes
we sit in silence
wait ’til day breaks
one gets caught
he disappears
with a lady in sharpened heels
people pass by
but we go unseen
hidden in shadows that mourn
but in this place
so toweringly large
their yells are like whispers
thrown empty to space
outside they’re dancing
outside they sing
they don’t hear the silence echo
and the emptiness ring
they begin to read
voices in unison
like a chant
turned evil by spell
magic is murder
and deceit is dear
maybe this will go over well
but if by chance I fade so far
nobody would know
there’d be no one to tell
let them know it’s Heaven I found
and refused my entry to Hell
