I left home with a backpack against my shoulders
And I thought of you

You know the world gets lonely sometimes
Even with stardust eyes to watch over you from the world’s canopy
Because I only want one pair of eyes
To turn over in my thoughts
To love and to know
And I would be happy I’m sure of it

I remember them
Deep set
Thoughtful
They envelop you until you collapse into heaps of pillows
And you tug at their blankets, soft and snug beneath your chin
And the world, she is still
She is untouched snow

I carry you along with me
And it stings with each step I take in these heaps of this ivory dust
Because when the ivory dust turns into liquid company,
And she too turns into petals and gold
I search for your eyes in it all my dear
But perhaps you are not mine
Perhaps you never were
