Silence and Poison

The silence is sweet but all at once she betrays me
Empty smiles
And shallow conversation permeate through the air
And I recline into my mind
Gray skies that replace sunrises
And smiles on my lips that turn down
I fall into my mind
Crossed off calendar dates
And the seconds and the minutes and the hours
Slipping, slipping, slipping
You know I don’t want to
But what choice do I have
Silence isn’t a sweet friend but a poison,
And the mind is not a tool but a weapon.
