branches blowing in the breeze

roots curling, coiling around my ankles

leaves meet me eerily

cool and smooth, like icicles

against my fiery skin

the rain beads down

soaking

drenching

choking

enveloped in the Fog

blind-sighted

back-stabbed

gone astray

all alone

heart thrashing

betrayed

but perhaps for the better
