All the Light We cannot See
The brain floats in utter darkness never exposed to a speck of light
Ma Cherie you are the brain
You live in constant night yet percieve the world in vibrant colors
I see our people being crushed to a fine powder and taken to the wind
but thats happening worlds away so lets play pretend
ill spin you around and let you take the lead
follow your small footsteps home or to your favorite book shop
I have heard the myths and I live inside the legends
burning fire between us encased in generations of lies and misfortune
when the men come armed with hatred and ignorance
do not hide, and do not panic
listen to the crackle of sound from the broken radio
and wisper "come and get me"

this is written from the perspective of the father of Marie-Laure from Anthony Doerr's Novel: All the Light We cannot see. this book is a beautiful and poetic story that I tried to encapsulate through each line of this poem. because everything is a metaphore from a part of the book those who have read it will most likely be able to apreciate it more, but otherwise thanks for reading it means a lot!
