Morning
1. My favorite time of day,
the sun cresting over
the dew on the grassy hills,
birds chirping
on birch trees,
it’s morning.
Late night mysteries
2. A late night cast,
the river full of mystery
what will I catch,
the line pulls tight
and rod begins to twitch,
what is on the line
but a catfish.
A sudden moment
3. Screeching of brakes,
in the middle of the road
stands a deer,
his mom right behind,
she looks up at the driver,
a brief moment of understanding
between driver and deer.
