Anger
Sometimes I think it might be better to be oblivious; to miss social cues.
When you’re perceptive you pick up on every insult, every injustice, every malintent.
Pain and anger easily move into your daily routine.
And trust me, anger is a killer.
It kills your happiness, your hope and your joy.
It kills any chance you have at reclaiming the relationship with the person who “did you wrong.”
It kills countless hours spent plotting revenge or wallowing in your newfound unhappiness.
It kills the person you were.
Anger is like an unescapable black cloud that informs everything you do.
Unless you give yourself permission to let it go.
The target of your wrath is unaware,
And so they’ve beaten you twice.
Forgive and forget.

This was an assignment where I needed to use anger as a simile and a metaphor.
